As organizations continue adopting AI and analytics solutions, having a centralized environment for data science and collaboration becomes increasingly important. Oracle AI Data Platform provides a unified platform that helps teams manage data, run analytics workloads, and develop AI-driven solutions efficiently.
One of the first steps in getting started is creating an AIDP Workspace instance in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. The workspace acts as a collaborative environment where users can organize notebooks, files, compute clusters and workflows for AI and analytics projects.
In this blog, we will walk through the process of setting up an Oracle AI Data Platform Workspace instance in OCI.
So let us crack on!!!
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- Access to an OCI tenancy
- Required permissions to create cloud resources
Setup
Log in to your Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Console, and navigate to Analytics & AI > AI Data Platform Workbench.

In the AI Data Platform service page, select the appropriate compartment from the Compartment dropdown.

Click the Create AI Data Platform Workbench button.

This opens the configuration page where you can define workbench settings.

Enter a Name for the AI Data Platform Workbench. Optionally provide a Description.

Under Workspace, provide the required details for the workspace instance.

Select whether you want an Oracle-managed Storage encryption key or a Customer-managed one.

You need to determine the scope of access for the Oracle AI Data Platform. You can chose from the following options:
- Standard: Provides essential access with minimal customization at the tenancy level, suitable for straightforward use cases or proof-of-concept environments.
- Advanced: Offers more granular access at the compartment level.
For this demo, I will select Standard.

Click on Optional policies and add additional policies, if you want more granular control.

Click Create. This will initiate the provisioning of the AI Data Platform Workbench.

Once the workbench is created, the status will change to Active.

Launch the AIDP Workbench by clicking on the link.

From here, you can begin:
- Creating workspaces
- Setting up compute clusters
- Building notebooks
- Running analytics workloads
- Collaborating with teams
Hope this was helpful. Happy learning!!!
